About Joseph’s Joy
I started this blog in the Fall of 2008. My DH and I have 3 children–2 biological daughters and one adopted son. Our son, Davd, was 5 and it seemed to us that it was time to let him know he was adopted, but we weren’t sure how to go about it. I did a lot of research, and hung out on a lot of websites, blogs and forums. One thing I discovered was that many of the people who discuss such issues online have had negative experiences, and the people who have positive experiences don’t spend a lot of time blogging about them.
Because of that I decided to start this adoption blog. Our family’s life is healthy and affectionate, David fits perfectly, and is completely loved and accepted. DH and I have some things we worry about, such as how David will feel about things in the future, so I’ll talk about some of those here, too. I’ve decided to remain anonymous so that I can be as completely honest (for better or worse) and authentic as I can be.
The site’s name, Joseph’s Joy, refers to St. Joseph, himself the parent of both a biological and an adopted child. St. Joseph is renowned as the loving protector and provider of his family, and his example inspires us and guides us here in our family.
Please feel free to comment. I will always be as courteous and honest as I can be. You can also follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/josephsjoy.
